Minor leak at the bell housing

I recently discovered minor leak at the bell housing where the black rectangular piece of the rubber that covered the hole dripping down to the black sway bar. The leak isn't that bad roughly between 1 to 2 drops within 24 hrs if it driven then parked. The color of the fluid is kind of blue green and it is oily. I crawled underneath and looked up but couldn't locate the source. I smell a little oil burned from the engine. My car is at 88,000 miles and only water pump is replaced at around 76,000 miles per egine component. Could this be the combination of Valley Pan Gasket and Valve Cover Gaskets? Should I add dye to my engine oil to help the trace? I will need to do an oil change in 2,000 miles. Car still drive like new. It only driven in the weekend to transport my new-born around as I feel it is much safer to be in then my Toyota Avalon or Camry.

Hey I got leak from same place, and it's minor as yours. I've read somewhere that such heavy duty engines usually leak some oil drops, so I'm living with it.

How can coolant entered the inside? Is there an opening on top? I'll try to run the truck on the ramp and find out.

Coolant (blue/green BMW Antifreeze) leaks out of the Valley Pan gasket and pools at the back of the engine block behind the Intake Manifold where there is a weephole. It then leaks down the back of the engine block inside of the Bell Housing and comes thru the bottom hole (green circle)

Search this site for VALLEY PAN LEAK, this is a well documented problem on this site with the 4.4i BMW motors.

Hey xXJDMcivicEK9Xx,

Did you get your SAV back? What was wrong with it? Valve cover gasket and valley pan gasket?
