New tires == new car
Sorry if I keep saying this, but, since I decided NOT to trade our 06 (3.0) I put new tires on it...the old Michelin XVS's were about 4 years old and staring to show cracking on the sidewalls, but still had descent tread.
I went wih YOKO AVID and the ride difference is incredible....quieter and "softer" WOW.....now lets see if they last as long as the Michelins and stay quiet.

I've had two sets of Avids on my wife's 325i, each lasting about 32K miles, and two sets of Yokohama YK520s on my X5 that went 40K miles. Both vehicles are now wearing Yokohama YK580s and are showing much better wear. Her 325i should get at least 40K and the ones on the X5 look like they should go 50K. I don't think you can beat the Yokohamas when factoring price, wear, ride quality, and wet road braking. The Michelins are great, but really getting pricey.
