Excellent point of durability vs reliability. I don't recall seeing any separation in posts. I will watch for that in the future. Sometimes the threads influence me to expect the horror stories are going to happen to me, likely tomorrow. Looking at the spec comparions of other transmissions, I see no advantage over what I have. And, I certainly don't want to have to find out how to get an alternative transmission to communicate properly. So far, my conclusion would be to stay with what I have with the exception of the splines and maybe change to a torque converter that has a higher stall speed and locks up quicker and will stand up to more torque.

Have you purchased a converter from them?

Haven't had the need, but I've talked with them. They can set up your converter however you want.

IPT Performance Transmissions | Performance Parts | Torque Converters

Lots of guys running big boost through their automatics get re-builds from IPT. Their transmissions are supposedly top-of-the-line and pretty well bulletproof. I would replace all your solenoids and sensors while you're at it (JCL makes some very good points about other points of failure).

Caveat: IPT does not sell transmissions - you have to send them your unit and they will rebuild it (as well as the torque converter) to your liking.

Thanks, I sent them an email the other day. I didn't know I would have to send mine to them. That sounds like a lot of down time. Have you purchased from them?:
