So, when I purchased the vehicle, it was dark. I checked the oil and noticed the oil level on the dipstick being wet to the top. never thought anything of it (like checking it "thoroughly") - I just wanted to make sure the oil level isn't ....below the mark.
The SAV mainly sat in the garage while I was doing different stuff to it, then I had to run quickly to a friend of mine, who is a member on this forum. We started talking, then he mentioned someone had a high oil level in his truck, which didn't ended very good. So I told him, that I think my oil level was pretty much to the max. Let's check it again. Now it was sunny and visibility was good. Once the dipstick was out, I noticed the oil level was almost 1" over the top of the max mark. Yes, it was on the "wire" or the metal part. Checked it a few times, thinking maybe the dipstick is wet, but it was there every time. So I ended up extracting about 3 liters (3 qts). Here's a pic of the process - it's a Mityvac 7400. This is unbelievable!!! The OP told me the truck was serviced at the dealership, and actually he produced the paper with the BMW logo etc. How are they doing the oil change? Why do they fill it up that much. Is there something we don't know?
