CCFL or LED AE's?
LED's http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/151029203265?_trksid=p5197.c0.m619 CCFL http://www.car-mod-shop.co.uk/x5ccfl-bmw-x5-e53-99-06-ccfl-angel-eye-kit-6000k-uk.html I cant decide between the two. I like the look of the LED's because they are bright, but then I also like the subtlety and tidiness of the CCFL's. I have OEM Xenons, so am not convinced the LED's will suit... I have heard about alot of issues with CCFL's however and that LED's are far more reliable which acts in favour of LED's but I just am not keen on the untidy lines. Any opinions appreciated |

Fmugur installed some sick headlights (Depo) on his 4.4 pre-facelift.
I'm in awe how they look. If you want to spend some $$ and have nice headlights, his are the way to go. The AE's are as bright, if not brighter than the current AE on any BMW model. They're LED's and the blinkers are also LED's. These lights should have come stock with the e53's........

My experience with Depo is that their projector optics aren't nearly the same quality as OEM. |

I would install the LED rings you have linked above, the CCFL are an older technology and the LED rings have come onto market in the past few years, and the ones you linked are an affordable, quality option (they all come from China anyways), which comes with the relay harness for a solid way to power them efficiently.
I also agree with you on the Depo headlights, the units may look beautiful, but their projectors leave something to be desired when compared to OE. If I were you I would install those LED rings, and remove the amber from the turn signal, get a chrome indicator bulb, and remove the waffled lenses from in front of the low and high beam, it surely updates the pre-facelift headlights to look years younger.

Not stalking you, I swear
, but does anyone have any recommendations for LED bulbs for existing rings? I was looking on Umnitza's site but thought I'd get some others opinions too.

for the OE rings just get the 30 dollar 5 or 6w replacement bulbs on ebay, make sure you code off the cold monitoring for AE's though or you will be replacing LED bulbs every 8 months. The optics design of the facelift cars doesn't allow them to be ultrabright, they mostly are all the same brightness, so don't overpay for LED replacement.

Search is your friend. There is a long thread from TerminatorX5 titled "coding, what not to forget?" which you can find the line for cold monitoring of AE's somewhere in that thread.
