help fitting widscreen sat nav

hi i had the old sat nav installed into my 2001 x5 which i have removed to install the widescreen sat nav

heres my old one

i have bought the widescreen unit

couple of things i noticed are the widescreen unit wont fit as there seems to be moulded plastic in bottom part of whole in the dash so its not big enough to fit the new widescreen unit unless i break some plastic away.

also i noticed if it does go in theres going to be gaps so i think there must be a trim i need also.

i have looked on forums for anyone whos does this conversion but could not find anything.

anyone help.

Did you see this DIY that's in the "articles" section (one of the links at the very top of the e53 forum page)? It outlines how to upgrade from the early Nav monitor to the widescreen Nav monitor: http://www.xoutpost.com/articles/all...-retrofit.html

The two brackets you need are still available from ECS Tuning. Just get them, they make it do much easier and neater
