Good price for battery change (I think)

Hi All -

Just wanted to share a decent price for those of us who need battery changes.

Pepboys has the BOSCH Group Size 49 (Part #49-850B) for $113.99 plus their usual feels, etc., but they are also running a 20% off coupon for any item.

Since I was feeling lazy, I let them install it and used the coupon. I paid $120 out the door with taxes and installation included here in SoCal.

I made sure the battery had a vent and that they installed it correctly.

I used AutoZone, seemed to have a better warranty with 3 year free replacement and 7 year pro-rated. $154 for the larger (V-8) unit and $10 install charge if I wanted them to do it. Texas heat is tough on batteries, so the bigger you can fit in there, the better off you're going to be.

I replaced mine earlier this year with a Duracell from Batteries Plus. I don't recall the exact cost, but it was in the $120 range with core return, and I installed it. That replaced the original too. 12 years isn't a bad run for a battery, but you've got to admit, BMW gave the batteries a pretty cushy spot in the X5 (and many others.)

If it weren't for that battery being located away from the engine heat, I know you'd only get 4-5 years from them here in Texas!
