I have the DVD somewhere at home. Has all "The Driver" videos on it, including the one where he tosses Madonna around in the back of an M5 and then dumps her at the curb by sliding in sideways... only to reveal that she has wet her pants... it's a great DVD.
Wonder if I can save it somewhere for sharing...

The Hire is a series of promotional short films circa 2003 by bmwfilms.com (site now defunct). Each film was by a different director including John Woo, Ang Lee, Guy Ritchie and John Frankenheimer. When the web site was up there were online versions available. I have 2 copies of the DVD collection (one in shrink wrap still) but I can't remember where or how I got them.

there also were substories to the first season films, and there were clues in the substories that would lead a person from a website to another website, and whoever would decipher the clues correctly, were invited to the Las Vegas for a party... even the invitation looked lke it was just a prank, but whoever showed up in Vegas for the party were treated by the BMW NA and one guy actually won a Z... Z3 or Z4, don't remember which one it was...
apple was one of the website, if i remember correctly, there was something on the page that you would click, and it would take you to the page with the code... maybe someone here remembers that story...

Actually, it was a 3.0 with manual transmission! Watch the longer version.... you'll see him shifting. The one you posted has the extra stuff cut out and you can hear the M54b30 as he is tearing through the rough. Wheels are the style 69---sport 3.0 if I remember right.

 My favorite short film in this series was AMBUSH which featured an e38 sport...there's lots of info on the internet about these short films that BMW put out about a decade ago. The first release in 2001 included 5 films: (which use to all be on Youtube)
