$150 is a good price for a new one. Took me a few months of searching but I found a used one on ebay that I ended up winning for $70. So much nicer having a usable compartment.

Maybe so, but it's more than I'm willing to spend on it right now.

For E39 owners here, most would spend about $150 for the euro arm rest which is what I did a few months back. For the $150 you get the arm rest, the storage tray itself (which is available separately new for $25) and some hardware. I dont understand why they would 6x the price for the X5

I didnt want to pay $150 for a storage partition. So unless I find a good deal like racingbmwm3 mentioned, I decided to take out the tape holders, bore out the partition between the sliders and wrap it with vinyl tape so it doesnt scratch the contents I plan to put in there (like my phone, etc). I'll post a pic later today

You bought the entire center console for the non-CD insert?

Since they make a deep dish, I would think that means the ones we have can be disassembled? I still have the phone in there. I am waiting for it to be a collectable.

I too am looking to lose the cell phone holder in my X. I'm glad it came with the storage underneath instead of the cd holder. If anyone has any ideas on that I'd greatly appreciate it. I actually had a nokia flip that would have fit there years ago! 😁
