Please Help! Front A/C BLOWER STOPPED BLOWING

Hi All:

My X5 3.0 2005 front A/C blower stopped working.. Rear is working.
Reading the email threads i did the following
a. Checked the fuses - OK
b. As i could not test the FSR, I bought a FSR and replaced. Blower didnot work.

Questions:

1. How to test if the blower is dead with out removing and replacing (the long and tedious process) ? BTW, suspecting this is the motor, I did order a motor from ebay a used and tested one. Waiting to receive it tomorrow.

2. Is the rear motor the same as Front ?? can they be interchangeable ?

3. I had seen some folks did replace the blower motor DIY, Any guidance is appreciated.

4. I don't have a bentley manual and cannot purchase right now short or $$$ .. Just a request to members if they can take the couple of pages instruction pics with phone and send me. Appreciate the help.

5. If i am removing the entire Dash assembly to replace, Are there any known issues that can go wrong in the dash area that could be fixed at the same time to avoid the labor. ??

The Heat is killing need to get the issue fixed asap

Always the members in the group are so helpful.. with the guidance i did a lot of DIY on this car, though not happy being a DIY mechanic non-stop... huh!

Thanks
Steve.

Is there any cold air coming out in the front at all? Have you tried re-direct air to the floor and dash to see if any flow comes out at all? Sometimes, the FSU / Final Stage Unit goes out on these cars and causes such issues. It is a sensor below and behind the area where the HVAC controls are located.

what happens on the digital (you have the digital one, right?) display? does it show the bars for the fan speed and nothing happens? or, there is nothing on the display, it is dark? or, it has a value/setting but can't be changed?

i don't have bentley manual, i usually use the WDS and RealOEM...

absolutely no air blowing on the front but all the controls are working

A new FSU didnot change the situation a bit.

VERY VERY WIERD Behavior... Its working now !!

This morning, all off a sudden the Blower motor started to work..
very weird..

It stopped working for the last week. All controls work but the motor never kicks in. I replaced withe a new FSU, still it didnot work, so put back the OLD FSU thinking it was the blown motor.

It is working all of a sudden. very weird thing. I am afraid if this stops again...

One symptom i always observed was a chirping sound for few months occasionally. That might be the motor sound i guess.

Atleast i am happy i didnot have to rip apart the DASH. I will return the ordered motor after a week or so.

Any ideas.. experiences..
