Does one NEED to deactivate the air suspension for vehicle suspension maintenance??

My Indy just called: replacing front axles and replacing alternator (see other thread) this am: was curious if it's necessary or if the vehicle will adjust.

I had axles replaced before and did the brakes last weekend w/o doing anything in particular...was I supposed to deactivate the system?
