X5 Wont Start!! Clicks, wont jump! [RESOLVED]

Hey guys! I put a new battery in and she started up perfectly. What a pain the butt doing it from the backseat and in the dark. The battery was completely dead so I wasn't able to do the double open position with the key to unlock it.

Oh well, atleast it works! Thanks again everyone!

Glad you got everything working and thanks for posting back your resolution. BTW, the "2-turn" key thing only works when there's electrical power. When the battery is dead, only the driver's door can be unlocked manually in the door lock cylinder by the procedure outlined in the owners manual (see the text that was outlined in red...for no electrical power).

As TX5 mentioned earlier...once you manually opened the driver's door (the only one that can be opened with the key when there's no electrical power)...you could have opened the hood (once cabin is accessed) and hooked up jumper cables to your new replacement battery or to the vehicle that drove you there...and that would have given you enough power to open the lift gate (upper) and tail gate (lower). It doesn't take much power to operate the central locking system, in fact if you had one of those 9-volt battery charger things that you can insert into the cig lighter...that would have been enough juice to operate the central locking system.

Rdeyoung - Glad it worked, this has happened to me as well, however once inside the truck you do have a latch that can be pulled to open the hatch in the back and then access the battery, without having to work from the back seat of the car, it's all in the manual to open hatch manually.
