New member intro

hello fellas, I'm new to the forums, just wanted to say hi and thanks in to all the X5 E53 experts here.
Thanks in advance to all the answers, tips and advice .

My ride: 2005 X5 3.0 sport 118k miles

about to tackle my first DIY with front passenger door carrier ( thanks to previous threads on the carrier)

Wanted to know if there's anything to do(maintenance, lube etc) for the lock actuator while I have the panel off? around the same time as the carrier was going bad, the lock would lock/unlock sometimes not often but has occurred.

thanks again for the tips and answers.
JC

Welcome, and I would place a bet on the window regulator going out.
But i wouldnt worry about it till it breaks.
Also try to check the black plastic clips that hold the window regulator to the window, if they are loose tighten them up a bit.

Also check out the How to section of the forum, Lots of great stuff and info

Welcome!

Never hurts to check any moving parts to see if lube needs to be added or replaced.

thanks fellas for both tips and warm welcome. It took me way longer than expected for the carrier replacement and still haven't finished the job. I had to drive to work without the panel on. Seem like i can not get the hex bolt to align up to the small piece of handle bar. i traced with a sharpie where the original carrier was situated. I tried so many hours with the alignment and still no luck. Maybe it's due to aftermarket parts, but others have had success with aftermarket part. now the center console lock button doesnt work and with the new carrier somewhat in, it still isn't opening from outside so im thinking i had messed something up around the lock latch department. bummers, gonna tackle this again tomrow and see what happened.
thanks again.

thanks for all ur tips guys. i checked and relubed parts. looks like i had the inside the inside locked which prevented the outside carrier from activating. the windows is a bit slow so in near future, window reg might be next. cross fingers not soon.
now to check why coolant is leaking and aux fan and that calls for a whole new thread.

thanks again fellas...
