steerting shaft question

interested to know if anyone has had a problem where the steering shaft is exiting the firewall and it has up and down play which you can hear/feel when you go over bumps sometimes

if I grab it with my hand I can move it up and down slightly and recreate that noise/feal

worse in the winter, probly due to a shrinking minutely

is there a bushing that goes there like in the realoem pics?

any info greatly appreciated

I dont know exactly what you are talking about but i had a problem similar to this, and my steering felt tight at various parts of the turn.

It was my steering coupling, replaced it and the problem went away.

Are you referring to the lower universal joint?

no the movement is in the firewall

maybe between 5-6
wonder if there is a changeable bearing/bushing

I will double check the double-u-joint
