Beefed up stock stereo (DSP system)

I've never been that impressed with the stock stereo even though its the dsp set up its lacking bass im not talking window rattling bass just a bit more depth.

So I removed the stock subs and wired in an external Alpine amp and sub and im very happy its turned down as low as it goes and its perfect, takes up a little more room than I would have liked but I had the sub and amp kicking about in my shed so cost nothing.

The space issue isn't as bad as I've made it quick release.

Just FYI, there are upgraded speakers available that require no modification, simply plug and play that will compliment your subwoofer upgrade in case you are interested.

I like the quick release for the sub. Is that a radio shack connector?

I am glad you are happy with this mod. I added an APPRADIO3 & hacked my DSP and the system sounds so good I am not rushing to install my two amps and speakers.

Thanks,

Im fairly happy with the rest of the speakers in the car, it was just the deeper bass I felt it lacked.

The quick release is made by Vibe not sure if it's available in the states

Here's a link to it:

Here's a link to a write up for the non dsp system, this is a wire up for the e39 but it should be the same for the X5 as they use the same system.
