Shark injector is probably the best bet. I'd like one but the extra 3-5 HP isn't worth the price to me. However I did have one of these on an E36, and it made a big difference in throttle response.

BMW X5 3.0i (E53) 2001-2006 Performance Parts - Dinan Cars
Here's another option. Dinan is always pricey but I have never has an issue with any of it and the performance numbers were always a little better than their estimates. Almost every vehicle benefits by getting more air in and more air out. You should get more out of the software if you have a cold air box and low restriction exhaust.

i have the shark in my e36 with intake and a supersprint exhaust it hauls ass, its an auto the shifts are very very smooth and when u hit it to the floor it just gets up and go doesn't choke like a normal car does is it worth it? it was when I first got it I was 22 single and didn't care about money but now im married with a house and a wife and wish I never spent all the money on the car but it sure as hell to drive from after driving my jeep tj lol
one thing I hate about the shark is that it gets programed on the car esc and cant be switched to other cars but I don't think there is any that wont do that

I don't know if that is the case with Dinan but since it has to be installed by a Dinan approved installer I would guess it is the same.

I'd say the most reliable one is the one that came in your vehicle from BMW.
What are your objectives and expectations in replacing it with an aftermarket modification?
