Checheck coolant level after I replaced the coolant tank

Hi, I have just replaced the coolant tank on the wife's 2001 3.0p x5 because the old one was loosing coolant because of a crack. now every time I turn the key on or off I get this message "check coolant level".

I have checked the coolant level and the stick pops up fine, so I'm confused?

O i also let the car warm up also undid the bleeding screw for a few mins.

I'm thinking maybe I broke a sensor or something as prior to the tank change the message only flashed up when it was actually low

Many thanks kind regards jon

Did you forget to connect the coolant level sensor?

I would double check that connector.
I don't know which kind is used in 3.0i expansion tank, but the one in 4.4i is sort of fragile and consists of two leads with a resistor of some sort connected to them. Those leads look like they can get bent and touch close to the base.
It's just my guess.

I believe that sensor is actually on top of one of the hoses near where it connect to the tank. It's easy to forget. Could be wrong - been awhile since I did that repair.

Not really,look what I found RealOEM.com * BMW E53 X5 3.0i Expansion tank, manual transmission

So both models are sharing the same part and it's located at the bottom of the expansion tank.
