Smoke after gasket change

Hi, I've just replaced my alternator and rocker cover gaskets.

On start up I have thick smoke coming from the rear left exhaust, allot of it.

I did the gasket change because of oil in the spark plug, the rear left plug did have allot of oil.

do you think it's the oil burning off or something else?

I've checked the gasket and them seem to have sealed well.

Just had a look at the spark plug on the smoking side and i do have oil residue on them. I checked the first three. Car was working fine before (part from the alternator ofcourse). I only changed the rocker cover gaskets as I had to wait for the alternator.

Thanks

It could be the oil dripping into the chamber after you unplug the spark plug, and now you're burning the old oil. If the new seal is good, symptom should be gone soon.

Thanks, I have a ton of burnt oil/smoke coming out of the exhaust. I think my CVV may have gone as well lots of oil in the sockets from the gasket change.

I cant see more oil leaking into the spark plugs, so the rocker cover gaskets are holding up and there's no oil in the coolant. No Engine leaks.

Hopefully it's just the CVV part # 11617508541

So much smoke the neighbours called the fire department and police,
Very hot night in Sydney, everyone had their windows open

It's going to the garage on a tow truck.....

Took the car to the garage. They found allot of oil in the cylinders and exhaust, far too much for it to have come from the residual oil from a rocker cover change.

What could have failed for oil to be pumping in the cylinders ?

Theres no oil in the coolant, no visable leaks from the engine.

Would the CCV be the first place to look or vacuum hoses?

This all started after rocker cover gasket replace. Could be unrelated. I'm not experienced enough to know.

Please let me know your top causes for this so we can hopefully attack them one by one.

Thanks

Ben
