Flashlight to LED conversion?

Hey guys has anyone replaced the bulb in their factory bmw flashlight to led, mine is kinda useless its not really bright and also the switch is acting funny so ii have to keep it pressed down with my finger for it to work.

Has anyone done this?

Whats the bulb size?

Addressing your question, I would pull the bulb and see if it has a part number on it and then google the bulb number with LED prefix. If you are saying you have pulled the bulb and there is no part number I would compare it to other bulbs on my X for a like socket that has a part number and use that part number to search for a LED bulb. I have changed interior lights from bulbs to LEDs. The result was that they do change the color of the light but don't necessarily provide more illumination. I find if you want to be sure you get more illumination out of a particular light source, buy a product similar that was designed to use LEDs.

Why would you want an LED flashlight. I've used a few and find the color temp too high and emmited lumins too low. This causes REDUCED visibility of any area illuminated by the beam. LED flashlight SUCK when looking around underhood/undervehicle at night. Personally, I would look into a MagLite Krypton bulb for replacement, natural color temp and good lumin output.

The only time LEDs look good is when you're looking at them, not too good when you need light to see what you're doing.

Just another FYI in case you need a bit of light in a spot...you can download a flashlight app and use the flash on your smart phone.

Android

iPhone

I've tossed EVERY LED flashlight ever owned in the trash EXCEPT one. The one with a built in crank generator to recharge the NiMH batterys inside, must be the "Doomsday Prepper" inside me.

I found a pair of small, black, metal very bright LED flashlights at Lowes that I use all the time and also carry one in my 'emergency' repair kit right next to the duct tape, coat hanger and super glue.
