Could someone confirm the new xdrive part number for the oil is 83222409710 as I've just been to the dealer an they said the ending in 244 has been discontinued

That is correct. They discontinued the Power Divider fluid - possibly due to switching oil vendors to Shell.

Another less expensive option is to use Ravenol TF0870 fluid. Many of us have used it with no issues. Another new option is Rock Oil's TF0870 fluid. I recently used it in my e53 as it was available for about half the cost of the BMW fluid. With it being made in the U.K. it may be even more affordable for you.

The Rock Oil product is distributed here in the U.S. by a Land Rover parts place. LR's use the same transfer case in some of their models.

AM.

This is an easy request...and as close as just going to any of the online part databases and inputting the part nbr (or inputting your car info and going to the diagram and part nbr index).

If you look at the part nbr index for #2 (below the diagram if you click the link below)...you'll see the old DISCONTINUED part nbr you're asking about...and the new one that replaces it. If you click on the blue "i" next to the neww 11 digit part nbr...it will reveal that it is bilaterally exchangeable with the old discontinued part nbr you listed:
