E53 Wing Mirrors

Hi,

Could anyone tell me if the actual E53 wing mirrors have the same internal parts......electric fold in option taken or not.......I know if the option was not taken when new, then there would be no button on the drivers door.....

I took the cover off my E53 today to get the puddle light working and it seemed from memory to have the motor already installed, even though the door panel has not got the button.

I was just wondering if it was just the button / new switch panel including the button that would have to be added in order to use the electric fold in facility, retro-fit if you like, NICE!

Many thanks for any ideas

If I was a betting man...I'd say no. My reason is...when I look up the side (wing) mirrors...and look at the multiple part nbrs for the assembly (see #1 in diagram below)...I see that there are different part nbrs based on trim levels etc...but most importantly...there's also specific numbers for mirrors with FOLDING option.

That would indicate that the mirror assembly that doesn't list "folding" in the description and supplemental column that lists the options...then the mirror assemblies are not the same.

You can verify this for yourself and see what your own conclusions are...just input the last 7 digits of your VIN...and look up the mirrors...they're under VEHICLE TRIM (main group) and OUTSIDE MIRRORS (sub group). Then click on each of the diagrams and check out what the descriptions and supplemental column says.

With your exiting none folding .. You will need the folding motors plus the master switch and have to be code it to the car too. Good luck.
