This whole thing sounds like BS to me. The only way the parts of a car could rust and stick together to that degree is if it was a flood car. Maybe the water went up to the floors for a few days. Either way, at an average of 3 months per car, you're way over your time with this one. Go sell it to someone who cares about fixing it and call it a day.

PS, I love my 4.6is.

Not very bright to post on a public forum that you are going to torch your truck.

I disagree with your opinion, I drive 6- th consecutive X-5 since beginning of production and only had problems with first one. I love 35d, it's a gem. IMO from all SUV's is second choice after Range Rover Sport.

Just because its a mini sledge doesn't mean you have the strength to wield these big, manly, heavy tools.

Hit the gym for a few weeks and pounding away with that sledge will be so much more rewarding

I am saying 12 years old X's were operated all over the country. What does the location where X was in 1 or 2 years has any thing to do with OP frustration and problem? It is easy to be a monday morning quarter back.

When something is used for any period of time the environmental factors play a roll in degradation. West coast cars have a higher value due to the possibility of rust through caused by road salts, however if the car lived at the beach it's entire life in Say San Diego, that would be something to look at due to salt water in the air which can cause rust.

When I buy a car I run the carfax, and look for records as should anyone that has "owned 100 cars"

As far as vitriol against OP I suggest if you post a thread title like this (WORST CAR EVER) in a thread that concludes come watch me burn this sucker down a flame suit is in order if for no other reason than to protect from the arson.

It's pretty simple, really. A rust belt car- ANY car from the rust belt- is going to be more prone to the types of issues the OP is having, especially if they are made more difficult by rusted parts. We know only where the OP has driven the car, not where the car was driven when it was abused/not maintained. (For the record, not maintaining = abuse)

The history of the car when it was not being maintained is relevant to the OPs problem because the environment where it was driven is relevant to the condition in which the car is currently. Like an abused animal (human or otherwise), a short time in the current environment is less relevant than years of abuse. That kind of thing takes time and effort to undo.

I purchased my X used. Sure I have some issues with it - no history, dealer doesn't want to disclose it, has some miles on it, etc. But: the build quality is very good, I changed an array of parts that were neglected, I am still changing parts here and there, doing minor & major maintenance stuff, and every time I finish a little (neglected PO maintenance) project, the X feels even better.
I don't think you can drive ANY car 250 k miles and change only oil & air filters. Or maybe you can, but then you will drive it like Fred & Barney.........
