Suspension Damage from Pot Hole

I hit a Pot Hole in the road very hard a week ago whilst doing maybe 40mph. Since then my front left hand side suspension has been knocking. The knocking noise is more prominent when I turn left. I guess most of the weight of the car is transferred to the right hand side at this time. it almost sounds like I have lost the dampening effect and the suspension is bouncing on the spring? Any ideas as to what this may be? where should I check first?

Totally sucks white!!

I would suggest pulling that wheel off and take a ood look around... most likely you killed the strut or the FCAB ( front control arm bushing ). try a pry bar in there to check for "wiggle"

Post some pics of what you find!

I did replace the front end suspension parts about 8 months ago - sway bar links, torsion arms and bushes, lower ball joints, control arms and bushes so will be really peaved if I have damaged any of it. will take the wheel off tomorrow and poke around.

we were getting a knocking sound from the front end... turned out to the lower control arm and the strut bearing on top of the strut. Sway bar links also make a knocking noise when shot... the bearing in there is plastic.... these point may be a good place to start.

popped the front left hand side wheel off at the weekend and had a poke around. The parts I replaced about 8 months ago are all fine. these are
sway bar links, torsion arms and bushes, lower ball joints, control arms and bushes. tried to listen to the knock when I drive over a bump in the road. not sure if it is comming from the front or rear now. what should I look at on the rear suspension parts. these are all OEM and have never been changed?

Wishbone control arms in rear and the ball joint pressed in the swingarms tend to make the most noise. Also if you are over 100k miles the subframe bushings might need to be looked at.
