where is xenon level sensor bracket

I took my x5 in for an oil change and the mechanic noticed that my xenon light leveling sensor bracket is starting to get in bad shape (rusted). is number 2 in the pic is what I need?

Do you plan to DIY? If the headlight is still leveling I would wait until it is not.

I would take the above drawing to the mechanic and ask him to point out the rusted part to be sure of what you need.

he didn`t seem to worried about right now he said it will eventually break off but could be good for awhile so i don`t know if he is just picking things apart or not ,he also mentionned the rear wiper arm needs replaced which I knew before brining it in for the oil change. I know when I did bodywork at a dodge dealership the mechanics would make a list of things that would need to be done but it would be good for awhile and if it was their vehicle they wouldn`t worry about. its just how they would make money .since they only make money when they have work because of being on flat rate. so I`m going to have to see the sensor bracket myself and see how bad it is.

Did he say definitely it was the right side sensor? If not, then it could be #7 if he was referring to the left side.

In the (e39) video below...this guy has a broken rod (#3)...but about 1:20 (min/sec) into the video, he goes underneath and clearly shows the level sensor location and how it attaches to the front suspension. Even though its a 5 series...the e38/e39/e53 have the same basic design & set-up for the Xenon aim level sensors.
