New whine on acceleration after replacing fan clutch

I hear a slight whine taking off from a start. I replaced the fan clutch and am thinking I might have the fan on backwards or the fan mounted on the wrong side of the clutch. It's my wife's vehicle and it's not here or I would take a picture. It's definately not hitting anything. Anyone have a picture of how it should look put together before its mounted? Thanks

Was your wife in the car during that noise?

If it wasnt her, a member here reported a newly installed clutch fan that was stuck engaged IIRC. He exchanged it and the sound was gone IIRC. I hope you didnt buy that from the same shop he did.

It's a Dexcool unit from FCP, I'm going to take it off and drive around the corner and see if the sound goes away.

You mean O.E. correct?

The sound goes away after the motor warms up.After looking at it what I'm really asking is does the fan itself mount on the backside or do the hex bolts mount it to the front side? Thanks

I had the same thing when I replaced my clutch. After a few months it went away. I attribute it to the new clutch being "tighter." After it broke in, it quieted down. YMMV

Bought a new clutch and fan for a 5 series wagon.
Sounded like a truck fan first week or so.
I wasn't used to hearing it draw air and work correctly.
