Bridging the pins may depend on which seller you bought it from....mine worked right out of the box, and was able to read the DME no problems! Odd. I would try searching through either e46 finatics or Bimmerforums (I can't recall which one has the huge thread regarding BMW scanner)...it should have some answers though.

What are the circumference of the tires? If there is too much difference between the two circumferences you will get that error.

^^ The OE staggered setup (255/50R19-front and 285/45R19-rear) have pretty much the same circumferences. The only thing is that my fronts are fairly new and the rears are about need changing. But I would assumed that BMW have factored this into their tire tolerances. I guessed I will find out if that is indeed my problem in a couple of months when I get new rear tires.

My X should have had 255/285 when I got it but it had 255 all around and the 10" rims were in front, 9" in back. I had no issues.

hi all so I soldered pins 7+8 today and bingo I now have DME(digital motor electronics) and EGS (electronic gearbox control)

dme shows misfire in cylinder 5,4,1,8 (before it was 2,3, 6,7,8,)

however EGS showed the following fault which is still present
5118 (20760) "info counter1 - EGS-Reset"

any ideas?

also im still getting loads of system that I have which come up "not found" like crouse control" and auto lights (the lights even turned on and off while it was running - so why would it show as "not found"??)
