How do you think my trim will look..?

If i paint it glossy black, out of a can, and clearcoat, out of a can.

Im talking about the big black parts that are fading and stuff, alot of trim restorers fade over time anyway, not sure how Gtechniq C4 pernament trim restorer will do, but i was also thinking it may look good having my trim glossy black?

Thoughts?

Have you considered doing the lower trim refresh with a heat gun? I haven't done it yet myself, but a post by dpbayly a few months back showed a video of how a heat gun can restore the black back to faded lower trim.

This works on Some plastics.. However when i tried it on mine it did jsut about nothing. Did he do it on an X5 like ours? and the bumper piece?

Edit: found it: http://www.xoutpost.com/bmw-sav-foru...will-last.html

Thats strange, i didnt do the fender pieces but i did do the front bumper and nothing happened, i did use plenty of heat though, maybe not enough

Ricky Bobby will become famous soon enough
I was considering the heat gun method that Gary mentioned, but after researching it seemed that it works, although once the trim fades again from uv exposure, it will be worse than before.

My suggestion? Stop using those auto store branded trim restorers and get something that has some real uv protection for your trim. I clean mine well with Adams All Purpose cleaner and go over all trims with Adams Super VRT lotion about 4 times a year. It's waterproof, water based and the equivalent of SPF 30 for your trim. It will keep the new look you are after.

Rattle canning your lower trims will look ghetto in my opinion, they need to be sanded smooth properly, adhesion promoter applied, before primer paint and clear coat in order to be done properly.

IIRC, DTMDan had good results from plastidipping his lower trims.

No on just the plastidip.
What bout plastidip with the plastidip glossyfier??
I'll try heat again.
And yeah Ricky makes a good point about sanding and primer and stuff.

Main question here was just the how will glossy black look.
I just want a slightly different look.

And Ricky : definitely a no on the store OTC restorers. I used black wow and it worked great, you don't need to use much and it lasts a plenty good time. It also has UV protection.

However a couple times I've used Adams on and out when I was in a rush. Does ok but doesn't last too long.
