Procedure for replacing just the upper radiator hose?
I just need to replace the three hoses that comprise the "upper radiator hose". I have the assembly coming on Friday. A significant amount of the coolant has already drained (onto the driveway) from the busted hose. Can I, pretty much, just disconnect the old hose assembly and connect the new one in? Or do I need to disassemble and remove other parts of the cooling system in order to get access to everything and get the assembly installed right? Sorry for the basic question... just getting into DIY, not very handy and want to be prepped. Last edited by labatt; 11-27-2013 at 04:34 PM. |

You can pop the old hose off and install the new one without removing any other part of the system. Just install the new one, fill the overflow tank with coolant and bleed the system of any air, top off coolant and you're done.
After the first day of driving, let the car sit over night and check the coolant level again in the morning. If it's good, you're all set.

That's what I figured but just wanted to verify. Thanks so much!
