I think I messed up my passenger mirror
month or so ago I posted about my mismatched side mirrors. I pulled the passenger one off before the driver side and "figured" out how to pull them off the hard way in the process. I first manually pushed on it and then rotated it with the mirror control to get it into position so I could pop the mirror up and off. then put the mirror back on to check the driver side. was going to wait until after christmas to get a matching set of mirrors as plane tickets sapped up all my extra mad money lol. anyway, after popping the mirror off/on since then the lowering action when in reverse is spotty at best and the mirror will jerk in whatever direction I move it and also sometimes stay stuck in place. before this it was smooth. I'm thinking I may have damaged the motor when I originally manually moved it while figuring out how the mirrors come off. driver side mirror still works fine. I've been looking and the parts diagrams show the mirror assembly frame with motor only. can you buy the motor separately? ![]() I saw one on ebay but it looks like an aftermarket one that you have to splice the motor back into the original harness and I dont want to have to do that. good god people want $$ for used mirror assemblies too lol Also, looking on car-part.com at the interchange...what does Dr area light mean? is that where the mirror glass is split so you have the reduced blind spot? I'm assuming gloss finish is body color paint versus flat black plastic housing? |

You should be able to get a replacement motor without having to buy the whole mirror housing. I'll look it up when I get back to a real computer, but take a look on realoem.

Are you sure you have the mirror glass installed all the way down? You really need to push it down (I used a body trim removal tool in reverse).
Double check that it has space all around as you move it before thinking it is your motor. Yes, I figured this out the hard way when putting on euro mirror glass…<sigh>

BTW, it it literrally that simple.
Point mirror down before removal Lever mirror up. Disconnect the wiring Reconnect Slide back on and Viola Got DS mirror on order on it's way. Heated Functionality went out the door and with the winter months now in full swing, I finally decided to order the replacement |
