Vacuum pump / brake booster nipple loose
Well - slowly but surely I am chipping away at my valve cover / timing cover and valley pan project.
Last night I reinstalled the front right timing cover and vacuum pump. Upon reassembly I noticed that the big-nipple on the pump is a little loose and spins in the housing. Is this expected behavior? I didn't remove the hose from the pump when I pulled the timing cover. I just moved the assembly out of the way. Should the nipple be like this? It seems like it'd leak.... I gather it's not right. After doing some misc research on this topic
It seems like JB weld and silly-cone might do the trick! I may be able to tighten the nipple up a bit with a special tool used on aircooled VW's to grab oil pressure relief valves. I am not used to working on cars with things like booster pumps, radiators and "water" cooling systems. It's all a bit foreign to me. I am having some fun though as it's something new. You should be able to find a nipple that blocks it off in the "HELP" section of your local auto parts store, or use a piece of tubing and something to close it off

This is the nipple you WANT to work right! The one that's used to boost the brakes I guess.
Not the little nipple with the plug! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
