Long to reach normal engine temp!
is the gauge for engine coolant or oil .btw i just installed a new thermostat and bleed it well and still the same. could the at thermostat have a effect to this prob? thanks Mike |

You could have a thermostat that's stuck open. Just happened to mine. Might be good to fix it soon, as it can cause other problems.

Thanks for the reply, i changed the thermostat a recheck with boiling water the old one and it's good.
Professorx5 how long does it take for you to reach normal temp. |

I don`t know what engine you have but mine will hit 1/2 (normal) on the temp gauge in about 10 min I`m not exact but its definetly around there even when its -40c

Considering your Canadian temperatures, I would say your observation matches the way mine behaves when the outdoor temperatures are below freezing. About ten minutes of driving to reach normal or 20-30 minutes if just idling. If your temperature gauge is measuring oil temp, there would be an oil can icon in the gauge dial face.

I think mine just measures coolant temp. it has a therometer in the middle of the gauge.

Engine will generate much more heat under load. It sounds about right for the temp to reach normal operating range, considering the cold weather you have up north. With an open Tstat in this weather, I don't think your X will EVER reach normal operating temp.
BTW, owner's manual stated not to idle the SAV for long.
