Talking Ice, ice, baby...

Belated happy holidays to the crew!

The Toronto Ice Storm of '13 took out power for over 4 days here. However, I did get to test out the X's nigh-miraculous handling in the snow, ice and slush, so yay :P

^^ there's been more than a handful of those stories going around of people falling ill (some even dying) from CO poisioning. It's quite surprising to hear....you'd figure people would know better than to run those kinda of items in an enclosed space or without proper ventilation!

All the best to those out east who's Christmas was affected by the ice storm! Stay safe!

We lost power for about 4 days, but the house never got too cold. Yeah, I'm surprised at how many ppl have been bringing their grills indoors. My daddy was a country boy, so I was raised with more sense than that, fortunately.

Years ago when we had an outage in northern SK I built a fire outside, used it to heat up large rocks, then brought the rocks inside for CO-free heating. Tricky, but it worked.

The X's handling and stopping power has saved my bacon a few times already from the classic Toronto winter drivers who seem to think they have time to make a left turn when you're already in the intersection.
SO glad I bought this car!

Hope everyone's safe, warm, and having a good holiday!

ice and slush is the worst combinations of driving. We had about an inch of it last week, so I took my Mini out to test the handling of a modern FWD. She did a good job, but my Blizzaks which tend to be amazing on ice and colder temps we having a tremendously difficult time getting traction in the 32degree ice/slush combo we had. That's a big reason why the PNW cities have such a hard time when it snows, its never cold enough to have decent traction, always around 30-32degrees. If only it were 28 or less, nobody would have any issues...
