Anyone ever have Brake Hose Lines go BUST on you

GRRR.
This is the 2nd time. The 1st was a couple years back.

However, these lines are new (stoptechs braided) replaced in spring of this year. Was luckily, pedal was MUSH when I went started the car in a parking lot and thankfully, it decided to bust then, rather than on the freeway....

The steel brake line on my 93 Ford Ranger rusted through. Just spliced in a new piece and I was good to go. While I was at it I change a couple of the rubber hose, after all the truck is 20 years old.

WTH is it with Fix Or Repair Daily? My Explorer (same chasis as Ranger) had the brake lines rust and bust, too. I coasted right into a brake shop -- like a boss :P

Grrr....For me, it's not even the hard lines but the @#$)@@#@ *soft* lines. Both times, there were both the SS lined ones.

Luckily for me, both times the pedal went to MUSH when I started the car, from a parked standpoint. What sucks...is paying top dollar for *premium lines*, and they were just changed out in spring of this year, as preventative maintence....


Hell, I know people go for YEARS without even touching/ever changing their brake fluid.

Faulty lines, or faulty installation. Brake lines don't fail that quickly otherwise.

Hmm yeah, the Ford was the only car whose brake lines I ever had to replace due to failure.

Yes, I actually started a thread on this not too long ago. My front driver side brake line ruptured at the fitting opposite side of the caliper. Luckily your rear brakes will still work if this happens. I'm not exactly sure what caused it, but what did happen was I came to red light and pushed down on the brake pedal and i felt the pedal pop and go very soft. (I hit the brake pedal late most of the time) either way I replaced the lines with stop tech stainless steel braided brake lines and bled the fluid. No problems since.

I have not had a chance to check if there was any rub points or where the point of damage was...had the car towed to shop as I did not chance coasting home. I did zip tie off the stock line holder, and make sure the routing was good if memory serves me...

Expensive replacement again, I suppose, but this will be my 4th set of brakes lines on this car

1st replacement - SS braided on OEM brakes
2nd - Brembos all around
3 - Spring '13 as preventative maintenance (Did not change rears)
4th - Front blew. Peace of mind. Waiting till Cali wakes up to order a set for all 4 corners

Hmm thats odd where is it blowing? At the fitting check the threads to make sure they are nice and clean and no debris is there. We have a very similar brake set up. One complaint i have is my brembos warped... Only had them for a few months. I had drilled btw, you must have the solid rear brake rotor correct?

Nope. Drilled on BBK - not just rotors....
It's pretty damm amazing. A wild guess - and this is really a wild guess, but I think it's had 60K of miles and the rotors still have plenty of life. Well, at a cost of at least two $650-$700 pad changes though...
