You mean like a mediabridge?

I have a USA Spec and very happy with it, I like having direct control of my phone functions/ipod functions at my hand if needed, so no complaints there. I just wanted to move it somewhere more accessible, as opposed to opening the armrest and "fishing for it" with my hands, I think sliding open the cupholder is better.

If/When I replace my wood trims I'll probably relocate the iPod cable to the cupholders at that time.

I see, checked it out, was not familiar with USA Spec.

That is what I did back when I had the X5 and the Dension interface kit. I ran the cable under the console, and up through a cup holder. I then took the removable tray that sits above the cup holders, designed for pens, and often called a lobster tray (due to the shape). I cut out the shape of the iPod in the tray with a Dremel, and it sat flat, with the cable hidden. Driver and passenger could both operate it, and the cover slid closed to hide it when parked. The tray was disposable, so there were no marks left in the vehicle when I sold it. You can still find the trays around, and they fit all E53 models, although BMW only supplied them with new vehicles up through 2003 or so, from memory. Lots of posts on this subject (iPod, lobster tray) if you search back to the 2005 time frame.
