4.8 valve covers= PITA

OMG! Going for a 3rd and hopefully final try to get the bass-turds to seat and seal properly. Putting a little dab of black RTV on the half circles and corners in the back. The book says 7 lbs of torque to tighten....mine doesn't go that low, maybe to 10 lbs.
Any proven methods to hand tighten and get a good seal?

Get an in-lb torque wrench. 7 ft-lb = 84 in-lb

Are you sure you don't have something else going on; a cracked plastic valve cover perhaps?

Ft/lb tq wrenches are not accurate below around 15 ft/lbs.

Roger that....getting a in-lb torque wrench!
Pretty sure the cover isn't cracked but, will inspect closer. I'll start doing a write up...we need more details for our 4.8! I could do most from memory after taking it apart 2 other times. Update you all when done!
