A new issue!

My wife informed me this morning that she had this happen for the 2nd time. She was driving light snow outside and the wipers in auto mode. Wipers are making a lot of noise probably need replaced. Pulling up to a traffic light the radio turns off the hazards turn on and the dome light turns on all by themselves. She was able to turn the radio back on the hazards off but she had to open the door to get the dome light to go back off. Any ideas what is causing this? Thanks!!

When weird electrical things start to happen, I always suspect the battery first and the alternator second.

You can see what battery voltage is with the car off (for a while so it goes into sleep mode) and it should be 12v or a little more. While running, you'd like to see 14v at the battery.

Many parts shops (pep boys) or Sears/KMart auto centers will test your battery and alternator for free.

If it is your battery, I recommend getting an absorbed glass mat (AGM) replacement battery. I bought this one: Deka AGM battery

I replaced the battery this past summer because the FSR ran is down multiple times. I will check the battery voltage at both the cluster test and the lugs under the hodd and see if I see anything strange. It does seem that both time this has happened the wipers were in auto.
