also, looking at the ccv I see 4 hoses instead of just two as I've seen mentioned in various threads.

pretty sure this is the right diagram though as I see where the egr hooks into the exhaust.
Yes, the hose you'll most likely need to replace is made up of #3 and #4. #3 is a hard plastic section which can basically be eliminated if you use rubber hose for #4 all the way from the SAP around to the electric valve.

It only makes sense to do all 4 while you're in there. Once you get started, you'll understand why you don't wanna do this job any more frequently than you need to.

BMW sells a Cold weather CCV "kit" with the main 2 hoses installed, I'm assuming because its probably easier for techs to replace as an assembly that way.

If doing it yourself though, buy the extra 2 hoses and the dipstick O-ring, insulated versions obviously.

And like I was discussing earlier with Gary, the OFHG (oil filter housing gasket) might be a good idea, as well as PS reservoir and hoses replacement (if leaking) while you are working on the intake manifold side. Also, you most likely will be unbolting the throttle body if doing the CCV, clean it out and put a new gasket on it, as well as clean out the ICV.

And don't forget to do a throttle body adaptation when you're done, or your car will idle like shit lol!

RB, I assume that G.A.S. means if your DISA fails at the flap or shaft, they'll replace it or give you credit toward the gold. Keep in mind that there is also a vacuum actuator and an electric solenoid that can fail. There's a good discussion of the DISA (and other vacuum controlled components) over on E46fanatics (http://forum.e46fanatics.com/showthread.php?t=897616)

No worries Gary, but here is pasted from G.A.S. website:

The kit components are guaranteed for life.

If any other part of your DISA valve fails within 5 years of purchase date, we will credit 100% of your original purchase price toward a brand new OEM BMW DISA valve or a new G.A.S. DISA Gold Valve. This warranty includes failure of any DISA component, including the vacuum pot, electric vacuum solenoid and bell crank seal. Nobody but German Auto Solutions would ever warranty used parts that they didn't make and didn't sell you!

So basically if you install the kit for 80 bucks and your DISA shits the bed within 5 years, he'll credit you the 80 you already paid towards a new DISA, really not a bad warranty at all if you ask me. Doesn't even say that you have to buy the OEM DISA from them.

Now you going to get yourself a kit? LOL!

Just speaking from painful experience. See this post http://www.xoutpost.com/951912-post1.html

Nope. Still gonna get a new OEM DISA and the mil-spec o-ring.
Remember, I don't pay what mere mortals pay for OEM parts...

^You should have swap in the M62TU and get rid of the DISA valve all together since it won't cost you that much anyway
