whining noise 4.6is 2002

I have a whining noise/vibration feel coming from the metal covered oil line going to the oil filter housing when i accelerate past 1500 rpms. Anyone know what i could be dealing with?

Use a stethoscope to see if the line is just amplifying a noise originating somewhere else. I'd suspect a pulley...but could be a variety of things. Try removing the fan and belts and see if the noise goes away and that will give you more access with the stethoscope to prod around if the noise is still present. Just don't run the engine too long without the belts because you'll be draining your battery and your waterpump won't be running. You should be ok for a couple of minutes, which is plenty long to locate the source of the noise.
If the noise does go away when you remove the fan and belts, you'll have narrowed it down to something driven by the belts. Waterpump, power steering pump, alternator, tensioner, idler pulley.

definitely not a whistle, indy is going to do an oil change and inspect the metal braided oil line to see if there is an obstruction today.

@kevinkay. That problem only affects the 3.0 not the 4.6.
