Thanks.

I'm sure I would have been written up at work if the wrong people knew the labor/equipment I used to do the BMW specific conversion. I have a cool boss, I would walk thru fire for him!

I agree that is a sweet looking knob- if it were all black I'd be all over it, but I just can't do the chrome.. Anybody have any pics of a zhp installed on a E53?

That pic has me sold on the zhp- mind me asking what you paid for it? Piano black trim, manual ac/heat, 5 speed... Winning!

Thanks! I think I paid $70-$80 at the local dealer.

You could try Tischer BMW. They look like they have a good deal going on the knobs if you can wait for shipping. Looks like they're in Maryland so it wouldn't take too long to get to you.

FYI, it appears you can buy the ZHP shift knob without the ///M Logo

You young guys, always bragging about and polishing yer knobs. . After getting over the price ($135), I do like the feel of the heavy aluminum engraved UUC version. It attaches/tightens with an inset, allen headed screw on the passenger side. And its not chrome. I have the woody trim, and, given the black leather surround that matches the shifter boot, I don't think it detracts from the appearance, though the original matching wood was better. Pictures in any earlier post.

Nice find Sammy, now I'm theorizing if the added $30 is just for them to add the 5-speed pattern piece on (and swap out the M piece)

If thats the case I could get a ZHP knob and just swap my shift pattern from my Light Poplar knob over, use some glue and glue on the 5-speed pattern.

I'm going to see how the knob sits once I install my Evo3 short shifter (height adjustable), but I agree the ZHP knob is nice!

NINJA EDIT: The 5-speed pattern (acrylic emblem) is about 10 bucks from BMW, if it were me and I was purchasing a ZHP knob, I would get a new emblem on it and glue in place.

^^^I bet you're right, you'll have to keep us posted if you decide to pull the trigger on it.

I'm also looking for a new knob (to match the titanium interior) and am torn between the ZHP (which offers the weight / height benefits as well as the little silver trim that should match the interior) or the OE titanium knob below (which offers a lot more silver trim and is technically part of the set).

Sammy, if you are sticking with the stock shifter (and not upgrading to the UUC Evo3), I would DEFINITELY go with that Titan silver 5 speed shifter. That is the one I was looking at when I was almost purchasing the Titan trims, and to be honest, I think either option would look great.

ZHP knob + new non-M insert - $85

Titan Silver 5 speed knob - $73 from ECS

Home Page Search SiteSearch 25117503100 ES#47148 SHIFT KNOB - 25117503100

There is the part number for you, that place on ebay sells them for $100 plus shipping which is a ripoff.

For me, the ZHP + new insert would keep the interior flowing until I changed trims someday (perhaps getting them painted Piano Black now), but if I added the Titan knob and had wood trims it would drive me crazy.

In my opinion go for it with the Titan knob, great completion to your interior trim at $70!

However, I will say that I do like the contrast of the coloring on the knob when you have colored trim, I think the ZHP knob would look best on a car with dark wood, or black interior trims, but if you have light wood or silver trims, I think the matching light wood knob, or the silver trimmed knob does accentuate the interior really well in my opinion, and I think you need to keep that accent piece so the shifter doesn't get "lost" in the interior.
