Good source for headlight assemblies

My 2002 passenger side head light bulb popped out of the assembly while on and melted the inside half of the headlight assembly. It started a mini fire which was scary but only burnt the headlight assembly. I managed to break off the melted parts and remove the headlight assembly. I removed the burnt part of the lights which is bassicly everything in the engine compartment but the exterior is fine. It looks easier to just replace the whole assembly vs just the back half of the light package. No junk yards have these lights where I live. Does anyone have a good source of used light assemblies?

Thanks

Mike

You are going to have to go outside of where you live to find the assembly. Try yards in different states for the assembly. I would recommend Bavarian Auto Recycling, but I just called them and they don't have any X5's in their yard. You always could go aftermarket and use Depo. Most people who upgrade their lights go with Depo, but is hit and miss. Some people have no problems, some have a ton.

You could also try forum member MrBMWX5. He may have some headlight assemblies left.
