Aftermarket radio with can bus for steering wheel controls

I removed my factory radio/navigation system from my 2001 x5 e53 and installed an aftermarket radio/dvd/navi system. It cam with a can bus to allow the steering wheel controls to work. However, they are not working. When I removed the factory radio, there is a blue harness and a white harness. I need to know which one of these controls the steering wheel controls and how can I get it to work with my new system.

Crutchfield: Car Stereo, Speakers, Home Theater, LED LCD TV, Cameras

They have a bunch of different ones as well as adapters that will allow you to use your steering wheel controls with any radio.

this one seems to work on i-Bus cars... the picture shows plug for the radio with round pins... the years of the cars' manufacturing suggest the cars with flat pins for the radio - there was a changeover in the type of the pins used...

has anyone tried this one out yet?

factory radio does not have a white and a blue plugs... those plugs are part of the navigation computer, TV module and the monitor at the front of the car. You mentioned that you have removed the factory radio - are you referring to the actaul Radio module in the trunk? That module should have a big, black square plug with some smaller plpugs integrated into it... check to see if that plug has round pins or flat pins - the HAMA unit referenced above might work for you...
