No longer locked out but new problem....

AAA open my door with one pull on the drivers interior door handle and opened the door but now the central locking button, rear doors and gas cover don't work....I think I saw a post on this before but I can't find it. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

I highly doubt it's something as simple as a fuse, we are talking about a BMW after all...lol!! Sounds like it may be your GM (General Module), it's a white electronics box located behind glove box, you have to remove the glove box. It looks like a white video cassette tape, again just like the key cylinder it's an oh so common failure item. It controls the dome lights, wiper, central locking and of course the remote lock and unlocking. It's amazing how something with no moving parts inside can fail so often. so now you have an idea of what's in store for you down the road...lol! Welcome to the world of German engineering at it's finest...lol! Do a search for GM module and you will find a thread about how to find and remove it, it's really simple. Then you can send it to this guy to have it repaired, he can also repair your key if it's broken also. Yes the remote keys fail quite often also, so you could have bad key also, he repaired mine and then I went to the dealer and bought a new one, now I have two working keys, click on the link below.

in any troubleshooting, it is easier to start from simple and work its way into more complex... naturally, the fuses come first...

Do you have access to WDS wiring diagrams? you would look at the items that have a problem, and when there are several items glitching, the issue is probably cntralized in some module or a wire - wires are harder to trace... the GM has a half a dozen fuses coming in, and if one fuse is blown, the electricity finds its way to the affect circuit by other paths and the things work totally unexpected - i had wiper fuse removed, and interal lighting would come on... or something to that effect... lol...

get your symptoms organized - see what can you find that is not working, and look for those fuses... if fuses are ok, then look for GM...

I am at work, can't look up the WDS but you should be able to - at the top of every page is ONLINE REFERENCE, click on it, follow to X5 diagrams...

Thanks for the replies! I think I saw on the forum where this problem occurred if you broken into the car while it was double locked. Prior to locking my car with my key using the driver's side door all the components that now don't work did. After breaking in and opening the car using the inside door handle the rear doors, central locking system and gas cap don't work. I'm wondering if there is a way to reset the system so that they do.

Romeo might be right, I recently had a similar problem on my e46, and it was the GM5 module. I sent it off to be repaired, and it fixed all of the key fob unlock/central unlock button/fuel door unlock issues that I had been having.

I successfully figured it out thanks to the forums. It was an issue due to the double lock. When AAA opened the door from the inside driver's side door the car would start and run but the central locking button, rear door locks and gas cover would not work. I followed the procedures from this post:

Unscrewed the hex bolt on the locking mechanism removing it and then used a flat blade screw driver to turn the white screw and the car completely unlocked and now everything works fine sans the new locking mechanism that I need to order to replace the one I broke when the lock was frozen.
