Help

I have a 2004 X5 with a 4.4i N62. I am having a heating and AC problem, I’m only getting outside temperature air out of my vents no matter what I set my temperature to. My heated seats get heat but my vents get no heat or AC. Thanks in advance.

Do you have codes? What have you done so far to diagnose? Sounds like a failed thermostat based on initial guess.

No codes at all and I just changed my water pump 3 days ago thermostat as well and it’s still doing it

Maybe pull the thermostat and make sure there’s nothing blocking it’s movement and reseat the electrical connection to make sure it’s fully pushed on to the plug.

That said, sadly, we have a saying at the shop that “just because it’s new doesn’t mean it’s good”, could be a defective thermostat... ☹️

Is it fully bled. Do you get heat when reving and holding rpm? Could be your heater core is stuck too.

no heat and no AC is going to be a problem with the IHKA controls rather than the pump & thermostat. If the car is heating up and maintaining engine temperature then those are good.
I would first check all fuses.

Here is a recent thread on the IHKA controls

It could be a bad stepper motor that controls the damper on the AC system. Heat to Cold distribution. Is the center dial in the blue totally when you attempt AC or in the red totally when you attempt heat?

The heater control valves sometimes can stick as well.

Does the AC compressor cut on and sweat when running? (condensation should form and drip on the ground, or touch the aluminum line under the hood. Just dont touch the the hot/high side.

Heated seats have zero to do with that. The are electric, like a heating pad.

Yea I missed the AC part. I agree with the above. Duke and JCP. Deff not a cooling or Tstat problem.
