Pentosin ATF1 in my tranny?

I've got 5qts of this Pentosin atf1 oil laying around and I was wondering if it's safe to use in my transmission.I bought too much when I replaced the oil in my e39 and if I could save 70$ why not I just need to know if it is the right one...If not maybe someone else will find a good use for it...If it's not the approved one does anyone have a chart with the approved oil?

Also how can I find out what type of tranny I have?
Thanks !!

You have a ZF six speed. You need ZF Lifeguard 6 fluid, which may be made by different suppliers but is also sold in ZF bottles. It needs to be Lifeguard, not something that says "suitable for use in vehicles that require..." or words to that effect.

^They sell a kit too, which include the filter. Oil change kit for 6HP26x
My guess is about 6qt needed since they have that many in their kit. I would get 7qt just to be safe. I don't know if you can flush the TC. Do a drain-n-refill twice and you would get about 85% new fluid in there.

Hmm.. I think my truck is proof positive that you DO NOT have to use the mystical $12/qt. "rip you off juice"

As you have read in my previous posts... I used RL D4 ATF ( not the only other option, just what was available and worked for our application ) and that was 10k+ miles ago, no big boom! no "issues" or anything weird going on. and it even shifts better then it did when I got it

Redline D4 ATF is fantastic stuff, I have it in my transfer case, if I had more of it I'd put it in my PS system as well. Love Redline fluids, have 75w-90 in the diffs, and MTL in my manual trans.

Lucky guy!!

the ATC series xfer case ( as I have ) requires you to run the $50 "miracle bmw oil"

but I did drain and fill my PS with the D4 also!

diffs are on my list for this summer

The Xdrive oil is proper fill, for the ATC500, since its a more complicated transfer case it has the proper clutch additives and such to keep it working properly.

As opposed to my NV125 which is just ATF so I put D4 in there.
