Valve cover gasket sealant - what do you use?

So it seems as if Drei Bond 1209 is a thing of the past and isn't available any more. 3 bond 1209 isn't very available

Is your standard high-temp "red" silicone sealant sufficient for this task? According to the procedures I need a couple little strips of sealant in some key locations before valve cover re-installation

What do you use?

I was planning on using the black permatex ( Henkel Loctite 598 RTV High Performance Silicone Gasket Maker Black 70 mL Tube ) ... want to try to keep it as stock as possible and it worked very well on my 92 camaro to not only seal up the valve covers, but glue the gaskets in place ( I had to double up for clearance due to double roller rocker arms )

I use black permatex and always have. Never had any issues.

Cool. I'll pick some of that up. I've got a bunch of various sealants on hand (always been a fan of the permatex high-tack on aircooled VW motors) but I'd rather get it right the first-time!

I used red hi-temp Permatex on mine. Oil resistant up to some absurdly high temperature, so I deemed it fine for use.

Black permatex. For the best results, finger tight, 1/3rd final torque, 1/2 final torque, let sit for a min of 12 hours, then final torque. This allows the permatex to "setup" in the filled gaps and makes a better final seal.
