Help. On road with kids. Rear door wont open.

Door was fine one minute. Wont open next. Inside or outside. Lock pops up fine. Goes down fine. Im traveling with whole family. So my tool arsenal is limited to my leatherman, trunk kit, and a drill. Two kids, one has to come out through the window from cars-seat.

If anyone is familiar with the issue. I need help to point me in the right direction with a few things.

Is this the door carrier?

How am i to remove the door panel? Does ty seat come out first?

How do i open door?

Urgent help much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Probably is the carrier - you'll have to investigate to confirm and probably something you don't want to get into while traveling if you don't have a replacement on hand.

There is a write up here that you can take a look at to see what is involved: http://www.xoutpost.com/articles/x5/...andle-fix.html

Good luck!

Can't open from the outside, can't open from the inside, you got something jam between the door and the latch

That happened to mine. I pushed the door in and then pulled the handle, it opened. Try that

Got it fixed. Well un stuck. I opened the window. Pulled the inner handle out a bit, hit the lock on remote. I felt it struck the in der door handle. I was holding it gentle. Did this two more times and the door popped open. I suspected dirt or corrosion jammed the lock mechanism and it was not retracting down. Took off door panel.

By the way I remember how the shade comes off on the rear doors. Looking at shade while facing back of car on top there is a gap where the shade meets the window trim. Get a small screwdriver in there and lift up on the metal tab. Metal tab is part of door, and it has to lift out of the pocket in the plastic shade. Then remove the bottom shade braket screw and remove panel with 3 t25 screws. One under wood trim. One under wood trim by the inner door handle, and one by the map pocket on bottom.

Yea then came the airbag and the vapor barier. Pain in the ass when outside and not in garage. Then I wd40 the hell out of it. Yea i know wd40 is not a good lubricant, but all I got here. Will grease the crap out of it when I get back to garage.

I knew it can't be carrier because both out and in took a crap at same time. I knew it wasn't cables because same reason. Then i remembered the door carrier thread and how he pushed down on that latch tab with the close hanger. Well i figure that must have jammed.

Bought a cheap ass Torx set and panel pry set at harbor freight. My friend doesnt have crap as far as auto tools.

Free fix. Well, less than $20. Would have been free if I was home. Thank you all for replying on the weekend. Appreciate it.

No worries bro. I freaked out more than anything. Had to keep getting my baby out the window. So happy I programmed the windows up with remote. Made this issue bare-able.

Just a reminder if you need to remove the door panel while the door is stuck
Just do the same as the door were open, it does require the rear seat have to fold down and the shoulder pad have to remove .... pop it out from the top and work your way down and around it.

Seen you got it open .. Now spray some w40 into the latch and play it free .. You good to go.( done it for ucrewx5 son x5) it's good as new.

Wow you still visit us here? Thanks for the tip.

Hows the V12 world treating you? And when you getting another X? We need new mod ideas.

The Lexus GX made me get my first Lexus GS. I loved my friends GX so much, was too much money. The new one is very nice. Congrats.
