I searched for a while yesterday and could not find the web site that reads the VIN for free. Anyone care to share that link or care to run a VIN? Thanks.

Someone just asked this same question this past weekend on another e53 forum...here's my reply:

Here's the three VIN sites I have bookmarked in case "the man" starts shutting them down (like they've done in the past). Always have a back-up site.

Thanks guys. The site I was able to access months ago gave me a very detailed list of options and what not. These sites do not.

It's quite strange for that Z3. Both of my bimmers show up with all the pkg options.

Yes very strange. I just ran the VIN on my X and it worked perfect.

Yes it worked perfect on my X too. It just won't fully read my E36/7.

I used BMWVin.com and it worked quite well. Gave me the full options list. registration took like 2 mins

I have attached the VIN report I got from BMWVin.com. When using that site you need to remember to dodge the ads and login. What looks like a VIN decoder link is actually just a sponsored ad.
