I have style 63 wheels so you can check the outer pads throught the spokes and they were still far from worn so I looked a bit more and found the broken sensor. My broken one was rear pass side though. No need to pull the pads, just peek a bit and you can see both inner and outer pads. Yours look fine from the pics.

Agreed...my 02/04 built 3.0i only have the single stage sensors.

I checked realoem and the same sensor was used through to end of production of the E53.

UPDATE: Bought a new wear sensor ($13) last week installed it yesterday. Cleared the warning on the dashboard today. On to the oil change now. Thanks all for your inputs.
