Gauge test - check engine light?

Does the gauge test #2 on the OBC not display ALL the lights? My check engine isn't one of the ones that lights up. Nor is it when I turn the key on initially. Isn't it supposed to at least in one if not both of those tests? I looked at some youtube videos of the cluster tests and oddly enough, it doesn't light up all the bulbs either (2001 or 2004 examples). I have done bulbs in an E36 cluster, so I can pull and fix, but I'd like to see what is actually supposed to happen.

I'm going to map out the lights, pull the cluster and see which are missing. I am banking on the same bulbs as my E36

Thanks.

A long time ago a forum member reported something akin to this and found that the LED had been removed from the SES light position on the dash motherboard. Being adept with a soldering iron and having a Radio Shack nearby he went and bought a suitable mini LED and soldered it into the SES position. That is when he found that his SES was on. Many hours and $$$$$ later he found out why his SES LED had been removed by the previous owner - so he could sell the vehicle!
Be prepared.

^My thought also. I would use an OBDII code reader and see if there is any code.

I pulled it and it has been opened before. Will plug in with code reader in a little bit. Is there a way to enable/disable the light with GT1? I'll check to see if it's been buggered with or just burnt out. All the rest of the lights I have verified work (using the gauge test or initial key turn).

Ditto the above...and OBC TEST 2 does not illuminate the CEL/SES light...but it should come on briefly when you start the engine.

Note that the owners manual states that there are certain warning lights that illuminate when the ignition is turned on...and they are identified by a GRAY CIRCLE...then note that there is a gray circle after the Title for Check Engine Light or Service Engine Soon Light:

That's one way of getting rid of the CEL. Big WTF moment I am sure.

Awesomeness. There are now no codes and the light does work on key turn. Some people's kids….

WOW! Tape instead of fixing the problem?

Glad everything's okay, now.
