TRIFECTA AGAIN

I have read much and searched for info- I need some confirmation. Wife has 2001 X5-she hasn't been out of town with it all winter. She decided to take a road trip- 3hr each way. So I decided to wash it and top it up for her. Couldn't resist a little Italian tune up by booting it on a straight to the gas station. Soon as I did- the dash lit up like a Christmas tree. On her return I checked the wheel speed sensors with my DMM, all checked out. From reading, this leads me to suspect ABS Module. I booked it into an indie shop of good repute (German car specialist as well as Euro exotics) and he attempted to confirm. His report- there is no Canbus communication for him to determine whether the problem is ABS Module. His recommendation-it being a 2001 at 185k km- drive it till it fails and sell for scrap. His opinion the cooling line through the valley or the chain guides and timing chain will go and the cost to repair is beyond value of vehicle. He also stated, I could play around by getting the ABS module repaired and it might cure the trifecta, but there is limited time till one of the other inherent weaknesses will show up. If I had bought a 6 cylinder, it would be closer to the reliability we all remember from cars gone by. I'm thinking, as the cost to have the ABS Module is not onerous- maybe get it done on spec. Sidelight-there are no other systems failing other than no ABS. His recommendation is to drive it till it blows up.
